To create a content protection strategy, consider the nature of your content.

A wide variety of video content is distributed on the Internet, from extremely low-budget videos shot on smartphones to Hollywood blockbusters. Here are a few questions to consider. Your company might have other factors you need to consider, as well.

  1. What is the value of the content?
  2. Is the content ephemeral or long-lasting?
  3. What is the revenue model of your business? Is the content monetized? If so, how? Is it through advertising, Pay-Per-View, subscription?

You might require a hybrid solution: more costly protection for your highest valued content and less costly protection for less valuable content.
